Coffee and conversation [rp for [livejournal.com profile] lookoutearth]

It was crazy to make a coffee date with a boy that lived in Cincinnati...unless the one making the date was Anne Forsythe.

Calmly making the date and getting the address from Aaron via e-mail, Anne packed a small suitcase with the confidence of a woman who knew that somehow, the universe was listening. Her plans were set in stone, her future certain even if she wasn't aware of the details.

So it was that Monday morning came, and with it the call from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. They were interested in doing a spread for Playboy, especially after the wonderful photo spread that had just come out this week, and wouldn't that be a lovely followup?...

Having posed in the Rock 'n Raunch spread, it was only logical Anne head out with a photographer in tow to take some pictures and meet about the possible article.

She booked her flight, easily making time for the Tuesday coffee meeting since she didn't have to be in Cleveland until Friday. Arriving in the morning, she found her hotel with little trouble and did a little sightseeing before she headed for the address she'd been given. She was a few minutes early, as she expected to be, but instead of going in to order she waited outside for Aaron. After all, if she went in he might think she hadn't shown up, and that wouldn't do at all.

Besides, the weather was just lovely...almost reminded her a little bit of Boston.

Anne's smile grew a little, but she didn't call him on the staring. She mostly assumed he was being polite, or that she'd been recognized. She was used to recognition and rarely expected admiration outside of work-related things, so it was easy to brush it off and start moving towards the door so they could go inside and order.

"I'm such a girl: I like my caffeine with chocolate. Mocha." she quipped, tucking her hair behind her ear. "But please, let me pick it up, I'm on an expense account."

[identity profile] lookoutearth.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
Aaron's attempt to be polite and not stare was failing horribly, he really couldn't get over how gorgeous she was. He found his animal senses acting funny, in a way they only acted around those from his very own clan. This made him more curious than anything.

Opening the door for her, he let her inside first. He was used to always paying for dates, not like he minded but it was just his thing.

He smiled, "Only if you let me buy you an expensive dinner next time."

[identity profile] adreamto-rise.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
Nodding in thanks as he opened the door for her, she giggled at his offer and made an 'x' over her heart with one hand, as if pledging an oath.

"Cross my heart." she swore with a grin as they reached the counter, where she gave her attention to the barista. "Hi...mmm, can I have a mocha espresso with whipped cream and extra powdered chocolate?"

After Aaron had placed his order, Anne's curiosity finally got the better of her as they moved to wait for their coffee, his scent tickling her nose and making her instincts crazy.

"Okay," she finally sighed, polite and pleasant as could be though she kept her voice low for both their benefit, "I'm sorry if this is too forward of me, but it's making me nuts and I just have to ask...you are a werewolf, right?"

[identity profile] lookoutearth.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
Coffee. Black. No sugar. That was what Aaron lived off these days, especially with all the work centering around his new law firm - he found himself craving the caffiene more and more each day.

He thanked her with a smile. When she said the world 'werewolf' he was smacked with suprise, like a ton of bricks. No one had ever asked him that question, no one had murmured that word outside of his clan, it really caught him offguard.

Gathering his sense, he nodded slowly. "I am...." He paused, his voice low. "You are too?" Just to make sure that was why his senses were going nuts.

[identity profile] adreamto-rise.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 04:59 am (UTC)(link)
"Not exactly." she replied, flashing him a mischievous grin as she relaxed a little. "But close enough to make your Spidey Sense tingle, if you know what I mean. My people are ferals, I guess you could say. We're like you in most ways, but we lost the power to change form dozens of generations ago. We blend in pretty well with humans, when we try. I would have pegged you for one of The Folk, but your scent isn't right. I can smell the fur on you even now."

She paused, her smile growing. "I kind of like it."

[identity profile] lookoutearth.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
Aaron had heard vaguely of The Folk, from his Grandfather, but he never put much thought into it. His clan was his first priority, especially with the abundance of 'fans' of werewolves and all the propaganda surrounding his people.

"Interesting." He smiled, his cheeks got hot momentarily as his grin widened. "You've definitely got my heart going."

[identity profile] adreamto-rise.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 05:18 am (UTC)(link)
Giggling, Anne wrinkled her nose cutely and shrugged. "Well, hopefully we can get past the baser instincts and see if we actually like each other before we let the hormones drive us crazy." she teased, leaning against the counter and propping her chin in one hand. "So let's, hmmm? Tell me a little about yourself, what do you do for a living?"

[identity profile] lookoutearth.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 05:36 am (UTC)(link)
It was hard for Aaron to get past his basic instincts, because the feeling was so new to him. He nodded in agreement, mentally trying to calm down his heart and stop his blood from rushing to his cheeks.

Aaron lifted a brow, the smile still plastered to his face. "I'm a lawyer. I work specifically on Labour Law." He grabbed his coffee as it came up on the counter, nodding in thanks to the barista. "What about you?" He knew that he had seen her face somewhere but really couldn't put his finger on it.

[identity profile] adreamto-rise.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 05:40 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh my, a lawyer! How fun!" she grinned after taking her mocha with a 'thank you' to the barista. When he asked about her own work, she shrugged pleasantly. "Nothing so interesting as all that. I'm a staff editor with Playboy Magazine...model, too. I was Miss June in 2004, I got an internship that turned into permanent work. Before that I was a stripper. Worked just about all the best clubs in LA, too. I miss it sometimes, that job was a lot of fun."

[identity profile] lookoutearth.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 05:44 am (UTC)(link)
Aaron snapped his fingers, as if he had a revelation, "I knew that I had seen you somewhere!" He shook his head at himself for the outburst.

"Ehhh. Sorry. But yes, I practice law here. I've just recently opened my own law firm, so it's causing me to work my ass off." He turned, motioning towards the outside. It was actually a nice day in Cincinnati, why waste it?

[identity profile] adreamto-rise.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
Giggling, Anne patted his arm good naturedly as she followed him back towards the door. "Aww, honey, it's okay. I get recognized a lot...then people are embarrassed to admit they recognize me from a skin mag, which is hilarious to me because really? Playboy's high class stuff, so I'm not ashamed. An honest outburst like that is refreshing."

When he mentioned his law practice, she smiled, genuinely interested. "Your own firm? That's wonderful! I can imagine that keeps you miserably busy...I feel very fortunate you had time for me today."

[identity profile] lookoutearth.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
"I definitely am not ashamed to say I've seen you in a skin magazine. Playboy is a great wealth of information as well as beautiful women. Who wouldn't be fan?" He smiled to himself, sipping on his coffee.

He designated a table far enough away from people, so they could talk. "It's a bitch to set up, but once I get a few more lawyers and paralegals working for me, I'll have more time." He tilted his head, "It's good to know you're proud of what you do, confidence is definitely a bonus point."

[identity profile] adreamto-rise.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 06:12 am (UTC)(link)
"Mmmm, you're earning more brownie points every minute." she teased playfully as she slid into a seat at the table he indicated.

"I'm very proud of what I do." she went on, shrugging as she took another sip of her coffee. "Granted, it's not as honest a day's work as yours...I mean, you have a real career, one that can make a difference...but I make a living and bring a lot of people joy doing it. I just see nothing wrong with sex or the human body. If it's done tastefully, there's an art to erotic photography. I hesitate to call it pornography, because when it's done really well it's more art than anything."

[identity profile] lookoutearth.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 06:22 am (UTC)(link)
Beaming, Aaron gently touched her knee in one of those touchy-touchy comfort pats. "You're doing what you love, and so am I. So, who's to really say we're all that different, you know? I definitely appreciate Playboy and what's done to our culture."

He downed most of his coffee in an attempt to wake himself up a little. "There is absolutely nothing wrong with sex or expressing your body the way you see fit. Being a bodybuilder, I can say we show our bodies off as much as we possibly can. Some people find it weird, some people like it. You can't please everyone." He smiled softly at her, eyes dancing over her face.

[identity profile] adreamto-rise.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 01:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Anne just smiled as he patted her knee, totally at ease with the physical contact. She would have had more to say until he mentioned his pastime, making her smile with renewed interest.

"You're a bodybuilder? Seriously?" she asked, reaching out to touch his arm again. Giving his bicep a squeeze, she smoothed her hand over his shoulder, then laid it briefly against his chest, just over his heart and laughed in delight at the feel of solid muscle beneath her palm.

"Oh, I can definitely see it." she beamed, withdrawing her hand. "Do you compete? The speedo, greasing yourself up, the whole thing?"

[identity profile] lookoutearth.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 02:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Grinning, he leaned into her curious touches, flexing just a bit under her hand. He was used to women randomly grabbing his biceps or skimming over his chest, but since the both of them were similar in such a unique way, he found her touch far more pleasing.

Aaron took her hand before she withdrew it completely, giving her knuckles a kiss. He was always known for physical affection. "I competed a whole shitload when I was in college, and up until a few years ago I did it every year...But y'know, the firm came along and I had to focus on it's success."

[identity profile] adreamto-rise.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 03:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Anne smiled at the gesture, not merely flattered by the small show of gallantry but by the ease of contact. Most people thought of her as being too touchy-feely, but it was nice to relax in the knowledge that her comfortable level of tactile interaction was the norm outside of her family for five minutes of her life.

"I'm sure your pores are thanking you." she teased. "After a while, all that grease has got to get to your skin...did you ever grease yourself up with cooking spray? I heard once that's an old bodybuilding trick."

[identity profile] lookoutearth.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 03:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Aaron groaned, rolling his eyes, laughing a bit. "Cooking spray, baby oil, anything to help bring out the definition. Like I said, I understand the urge to show off your body, I did it for years." He chuckled lightly.

"So, what are you doing all the way out here? Besides this amazing date we're on." He teased with a grin, finishing off the last of his coffee. He was finally starting to feel awake which added to how strong his senses were. This was definitely going to take some getting used to.

[identity profile] adreamto-rise.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 03:33 pm (UTC)(link)
"Business." she admitted, taking another sip of her coffee. "The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame just agreed to let us do an article on some new exhibits they're running. I'm meeting the writer and photographer there Friday, I just appeared in a spread connected to the story. Jumping the gun let me keep this wonderful date," she grinned, "and it lets me avoid the miserable layovers I would have had to deal with if I'd waited until Thursday to catch a plane."

[identity profile] lookoutearth.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 03:36 pm (UTC)(link)
"Very cool. That sounds very interesting. What do you have planned for the next two days?" He may or may not be asking her out again, he found himself wanting to spend more time with her, which was new for him. Usually he was bored by the end of the date, but he clicked with her.

He smiled, "Want to go for a little walk? The park isn't far from here." The coffee shop was starting to fill up, and he wanted to be able to speak to her in a normal voice, rather than yelling.

[identity profile] adreamto-rise.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 03:44 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh, not much. Postponed a meeting that I have to telecommute to around five, other than that I'm probably just at my hotel either working or IM-ing with my baby sister."

His offer to go for a walk was met with another sunny smile as she shifted to stand. "I'd love to." she assured him. "Speaking of the great outdoors, is there any good hunting out here? Maybe I can catch a little of that while I'm in town."

[identity profile] lookoutearth.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 03:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Aaron perked at the mention of 'baby sitter', curious, "You have children?" It wasn't a judgmental tone that ridged the line but more a surprised curiosity.

Standing, he offered her his hand, "There isn't a huge werewolf population in Cincinnati, to be honest, but when my clan gets together we usually head up to Cuyahoga Valley, which is about three hours north of here. Not a bad drive." He said thoughtfully, "I'd be happy to take you."

[identity profile] adreamto-rise.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 04:08 pm (UTC)(link)
"Sister." she corrected gently, grinning at his enthusiasm. "Baby sister...although she's not much of a baby, she's twenty now." Reaching up to tap the tip of his nose affectionately, she laughed good-naturedly. "Still, more brownie points for that look. Man who's not horrified at the idea of kids. I like that."

Accepting his hand, she stood with a bright, happy-little-girl smile. "Oh, that would be fabulous!" she gushed. "Is the game good? I hunt mostly deer in California, and coyotes when I have to. They're a problem when you live in the Valley like I do, always coming down to cause trouble. Had a coyote kill one of my dogs years ago, I've hated them ever since."

[identity profile] lookoutearth.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 04:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Color came to his cheeks as he realized he had misheard her, and grinned when she tapped the tip of his nose. He playfully bit after her finger with a low, rumbling growl. "My mistake. Though, children don't really scare me away, only because I have siblings so I've learned to deal with it."

Aaron tangled his fingers in hers and started off towards the local park, which usually wasn't all that busy during the day. "Delicious game. It's pretty bountiful to the point where you could nab a few coyotes and no one would really notice." He frowned, "Damn bastard coyotes. Sorry to hear about your dog." He squeezed her hand gently.

[identity profile] adreamto-rise.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 05:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Giggling brightly at his playful nip, she let him take her hand and idly rested her head on his shoulder for a moment as they walked, fingers linked and arms pressed lightly to each other. The contact felt good...friendly, innocent, her instincts calm with the truth as reassurance and the common thread of shared heritage allowing her to be less guarded.

"Thanks, but I was twenty." she soothed, squeezing his hand right back. Strength, he was strong, too. She didn't have to worry about holding his hand too tight. "I killed the one that did it, and I have another dog now. And a cockatoo. Hulk Hogan and Happy Jack, respectively. They get along surprisingly well."
