Coffee and conversation [rp for [livejournal.com profile] lookoutearth]

It was crazy to make a coffee date with a boy that lived in Cincinnati...unless the one making the date was Anne Forsythe.

Calmly making the date and getting the address from Aaron via e-mail, Anne packed a small suitcase with the confidence of a woman who knew that somehow, the universe was listening. Her plans were set in stone, her future certain even if she wasn't aware of the details.

So it was that Monday morning came, and with it the call from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. They were interested in doing a spread for Playboy, especially after the wonderful photo spread that had just come out this week, and wouldn't that be a lovely followup?...

Having posed in the Rock 'n Raunch spread, it was only logical Anne head out with a photographer in tow to take some pictures and meet about the possible article.

She booked her flight, easily making time for the Tuesday coffee meeting since she didn't have to be in Cleveland until Friday. Arriving in the morning, she found her hotel with little trouble and did a little sightseeing before she headed for the address she'd been given. She was a few minutes early, as she expected to be, but instead of going in to order she waited outside for Aaron. After all, if she went in he might think she hadn't shown up, and that wouldn't do at all.

Besides, the weather was just lovely...almost reminded her a little bit of Boston.

"Oh, not much. Postponed a meeting that I have to telecommute to around five, other than that I'm probably just at my hotel either working or IM-ing with my baby sister."

His offer to go for a walk was met with another sunny smile as she shifted to stand. "I'd love to." she assured him. "Speaking of the great outdoors, is there any good hunting out here? Maybe I can catch a little of that while I'm in town."

Aaron perked at the mention of 'baby sitter', curious, "You have children?" It wasn't a judgmental tone that ridged the line but more a surprised curiosity.

Standing, he offered her his hand, "There isn't a huge werewolf population in Cincinnati, to be honest, but when my clan gets together we usually head up to Cuyahoga Valley, which is about three hours north of here. Not a bad drive." He said thoughtfully, "I'd be happy to take you."

"Sister." she corrected gently, grinning at his enthusiasm. "Baby sister...although she's not much of a baby, she's twenty now." Reaching up to tap the tip of his nose affectionately, she laughed good-naturedly. "Still, more brownie points for that look. Man who's not horrified at the idea of kids. I like that."

Accepting his hand, she stood with a bright, happy-little-girl smile. "Oh, that would be fabulous!" she gushed. "Is the game good? I hunt mostly deer in California, and coyotes when I have to. They're a problem when you live in the Valley like I do, always coming down to cause trouble. Had a coyote kill one of my dogs years ago, I've hated them ever since."

Color came to his cheeks as he realized he had misheard her, and grinned when she tapped the tip of his nose. He playfully bit after her finger with a low, rumbling growl. "My mistake. Though, children don't really scare me away, only because I have siblings so I've learned to deal with it."

Aaron tangled his fingers in hers and started off towards the local park, which usually wasn't all that busy during the day. "Delicious game. It's pretty bountiful to the point where you could nab a few coyotes and no one would really notice." He frowned, "Damn bastard coyotes. Sorry to hear about your dog." He squeezed her hand gently.

Giggling brightly at his playful nip, she let him take her hand and idly rested her head on his shoulder for a moment as they walked, fingers linked and arms pressed lightly to each other. The contact felt good...friendly, innocent, her instincts calm with the truth as reassurance and the common thread of shared heritage allowing her to be less guarded.

"Thanks, but I was twenty." she soothed, squeezing his hand right back. Strength, he was strong, too. She didn't have to worry about holding his hand too tight. "I killed the one that did it, and I have another dog now. And a cockatoo. Hulk Hogan and Happy Jack, respectively. They get along surprisingly well."

Aaron had been sheltered most his life from those outside his clan, so it was exciting for him to meet such an interesting and beautiful woman that shared something with him. He was genuinely interested in getting to know her, even with his instincts clawing away at him inside.

He leaned his head against hers for a bit, then chuckled lowly. "Hulk Hogan and Happy Jack, eh? Nice choice of names." He beamed down at her, "I wish I had animals of my own, I just can't find the right one for me."

When they reached the park, Aaron pulled her with him to a bench near the lake. He wrapped an arm around her shoulders casually, "Have you met a lot of werewolves? I have to admit, I'm a bit sheltered. My clan is really all I know."

Settling in beside him, Anne lifted her head but let her side rest comfortably against his as she stared out across the water with a thoughtful pout.

"A few...none of them particularly nice meetings." she replied honestly. "There's a powerful werewolf clan that's a sworn enemy of all the families among my kind, the Guardians of the Stones they call themselves. Old, powerful, arrogant." Glancing over at him, she smiled and patted the arm he had draped casually around her shoulders.

"Not to fret, you don't smell anything like them." she assured him brightly. "What about your family? Tell me more about your clan."
