She'd probably forget the date, but four off-key renditions of "Happy Birthday" via cell phone and a Hallmark card with a twenty dollar bill from her Paw Paw remind her yet again that she really should be grateful to be alive.

Oh, I adore Christmas, and it's always beautiful chaos with a family as large as mine. We chop down our own tree and everything.

Really? I always wanted to do that. My dream was having a cabin upstate, and going out and getting a tree, waking up to fresh snow. All the stuff you see in the picture perfect movies; before the family dinner chaos ensues.

I do, I can't even count all my cousins. My baby sister and I live in the city, but my brother and second youngest sister live out by Angeles National Forest, and we have a place up by Los Padres National Forest. It's a little mountain community, and in winter it's just darling.
